Man stabs friend over Chelsea Vs Leicester City match in Niger

The English Premier League match involving Chelsea and Leicester City ended in disaster as a 28-year-old man, Nasiru Yahaya was arrested for stabbing his close friend, Aliyu Saidu.

The incident which occurred at a football viewing center at Unguwar Hausawa, Madalla, a town in Niger State was caused following an argument between the two friends over N500 bet.

An eyewitness narrated that Yahaya and Saidu who are best of friends had placed a bet of N500 on which team would carry the day and at the end of the match, Chelsea won by three goals to zero.

The jubilant Saidu was said to have requested for his winning from the suspect who refused to hand over the money and instead, picked a fight.

But in the heat of the fight, Yahaya was said to have dashed into a nearby shop, grabbed a bottle which he broke and stabbed Saidu on the back and hands.

The accused allegedly fled the scene after other football fans tried to stop him from killing his friend but he was later arrested by a vigilante group and handed over

to the police, while the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
