A Port Harcourt based Civil Servant, Braide Chinedu, has been dragged before a Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly cutting off his neighbour’s ear over ownership of a plantain tree.
According to reports, the accused, a staff of a federal ministry in Port Harcourt, had attacked the neighbour identified as Adelowu Ogundele, with a machete while the victim was harvesting plantain at their Federal Housing Estate residence in Port Harcourt.
Chinedu was said to have challenged the victim for cutting the plantain from the tree and an argument ensued between them leading to the accused who had also gone to the farm to cut the same plantain, using his machete to cut off Ogundele’s ear.
Not done with the blood-shedding, Chinedu also reportedly went on a rampage and cut off other plantain trees belonging to the victim and those of a former neighbour, Ibitayo Elizabeth.
Chinedu however pleaded not guilty when the offence was read to him before a Chief Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt.
