Lady Gaga changed her style for her new album Joanne in a bid to turn attention to her music.
The Born This Way singer is known for her elaborate and outrageous outfits, including the infamous meat dress she wore to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, but the 30-year-old has been sporting a more toned down look of late, and she explains it is a conscious effort to make people concentrate on the new material from her sixth studio album.
“To be frank, I would just prefer to go through this album cycle and talk about my music,” she tells The London Times’ Culture magazine. “That’d be great. It becomes about everything else, and that was what I (once) wanted. But if I wear a black T-shirt and black pants every day, (people) might listen to what I write.
“All the outfits, fashion and art pieces over the years made sense to me. They didn’t make sense to other people. But I always got it. It was an expression.”
