Seven hundred inmates across prisons in Kaduna state, are now to acquire skills for self reliance while in custody every year.
The state has gone into partnership with the National Open University, and a fashion school to deliver on the project.
Sixty inmates would participate in the first phase of the training, which is expected to be completed within three months.
Authorities in the state say being in prison, especially those awaiting trial isn’t a death sentence.
While the state government is expected to provide startup packs for the training, the university will provide the manpower and facilities.
