Bob Dylan fans delighted at Nobel Prize win

Bob Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature Thursday in a surprise decision that made him the first singer and songwriter to win the honor.

The 75-year-old, who has toured almost continuously since 1988, played a scheduled concert in Las Vegas on Thursday evening.

Fans arriving for the show welcomed the news of his prize.

Dylan, who won the prize for “having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition,” joins a long line of novelists, poets and playwrights Nobel laureates including Octavio Paz, Albert Camus and Ernest Hemingway.
