American rapper Shawty Lo’s Fatal car crash detailed in 911 call

TVC E. Details continue to emerge regarding Shawty Lo’s untimely death, with local NBC affiliate 11Alive obtaining the 911 call which described the tragic scene. The call can be heard in the broadcast report above, the rapper’s cause of death previously reported as blunt force injury to the head after he lost control of his Audi, hit two trees and was ejected from the car as it overturned.

Atlanta police were the first on the scene, with emergency dispatch between officers and dispatchers released this past Monday (Sept. 26). In the recording, an officer calls for an ambulance and firetruck, saying that the car is engulfed in flames. “Is the person still inside?” one dispatcher asks. “No, the person was ejected. We’ve got two females outside the vehicle with some injuries. We can’t advise on what the injuries are; the vehicle is still burning,” replied the second dispatcher. “We have APD units on scene trying to see if there’s anybody else in it, but they can’t hardly get to it.”

A memorial service was held for Shawty Lo on Saturday, Oct. 1. Many in hip-hop have remembered the “Dey Know” rapper and D4L founder with a collection of condolences included below.

Shawty Lo, real name Carlos Walker, was 40 years old and is survived by 11 children.

Authorities say that Lo died at the scene after being ejected from the vehicle, with two others taken to the hospital. The crash occurred around 2:20 a.m after Shawty Lo left the Blue Flame nightclub.
