Paralympics : Orji smashes world record, wins Nigeria’s 8th gold medal

Josephine Orji shattered the World Record with a lift of 160kg to win the gold medal in the Women’s -84kg Power-lifting event at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

It is Nigeria’s 8th gold at the ongoing Rio 2016 Paralympics Games.

Orji lifted 160kg to finish well ahead of the field. Poland’s Marzena Zieba, lifted 134kg to win siver medal while Melaica Tuinfort claimed bronze with a 130kg lift.

Nigeria now has a total haul of 11 medals and is 10th on the overall medal table with 8 gold, 2 silver and a bronze.
