Worried by the discovery of a confirmed case of lassa fever in Owo community in Ondo state, health workers in the state have launched a sensitisation programme in rural and urban communities.
Two suspected cases were also reported by the state ministry of health.
The health workers were led by the state commissioner for health, Dayo Adeyanju who convened a stakeholders meeting in Owo.
At a well attended event, Adeyanju charged community and opinion leaders to sensitise their people to always live in clean environment.
The commissioner who noted that the government is on top of the situation, warned the people of the state to report any strange ailment they noticed in their areas to government.
Stakeholders at the meeting also reacted to government’s move to reduce the spread of lasso fever.
