After playing hide and seek, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has finally announced the postponement of the Edo State governorship election slated for Saturday.
The announcement was made at the INEC office in Benin City by the National Commissioner in charge of information, Solomon Soyebi.
And according to his pronouncement, the election will now hold on the 28th of September 2016.
Mr Soyebi explained that the decision to postpone the election was reached after the report of the security agencies were officially presented to INEC at about 6PM on Thursday.
The INEC National Commissioner regretted that the election was postponed after the electoral body had made adequate preparations for its conduct.
He appealed to political parties and their candidates to remain peaceful and law abiding until the all important election is held.
