The former chairman of the House of Representatives committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin has disowned the foreign bank account linked to him.
He has also accused Speaker Yakubu Dogara of confessing to having padded the 2016 budget.
It was the first day of resumption for the second legislative year and brickbats were thrown by the two camps in the budget padding saga.
The embattled lawmaker in the eye of the storm, Jibrin fired the first salvo at a news conference shortly after the House adjourned sitting.
He said the media event was a result of his being denied the right to speak his mind at a North West caucus meeting attended by the Speaker on Monday.
He accused Dogara of coming cap in hand to own up to allegations of budget padding.
Jibrin said he isn’t afraid of being suspended from the House but added that the speaker must step aside for a thorough probe of allegations against him.
But in a prompt reaction, the leadership of the House debunked Jibrin’s many accusations .
Jibrin has formally announced his membership of the Transparency Group, a group of members who say they are averse to budget padding.
Its numerical strength will determine how well it succeeds in displacing Dogara and three other principal officers from their seats.
