Eko Athletics Grand Prix gets off to blistering start

The first Eko Athletics Grand Prix got off to a blistering start on Wednesday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos.

Dropped from the Nigerian team to the World Under-20 Athletics Championship earlier in the year, Aminat Alabi, proved her doubters wrong by easily winning the 800 metres women’s race.

She returned a time of 2 minutes, 14.13 seconds to win the race.

Her team mate, Maria Diamond, came second with a time of 2 minutes, 14.96 seconds.

While Efe Agofure came in third in 2 minutes, 19.61 seconds.

Saka Sanusi returned a time of 1 minute, 53.85 seconds to win the men’s 800 metres.

Daniel Agboola came second with 1 minute, 54.72 seconds.

And Sodiq Adebisi finished third in a time of 1 minute, 55.90 seconds.
