No fewer than 24 members of Islamist militant group Boko Haram were killed in a gun battle with hunters at Lassa Local Government Area, a border town between Borno and Adamawa States.
The Secretary of Adamawa Hunters, Comrade Salihu Wobkenso, receiving the four corpses of members of the association described the deceased as patriotic Nigerians who died defending their fatherland.
He explained that the dead hunters were killed during exchanges of gun fire with Boko Haram at Lassa but succeeded in killing 24 Boko Haram fighters before they fell.
He however urged both state and Federal Governments to immortalise the slain hunters, calling for government’s support for the hunters in mobilities and other facilities that would aid further confrontations with the insurgents.
According to him, two of the late hunters have been deposited at the Mortuary of Specialists Hospital Yola while the other two would be buried tonight in line with Islamic rites.
