The Osun state government says it intends to hand over to the people of Osun state grade ‘A’ roads that will stand the test of time and vehicular pressure.
This is just as motorists in the state are eagerly awaiting the completion of the road projects.
Correspondent Ibrahim Alege reports that governor Rauf Aregbesola made known his intention to focus on road construction from the inception of his administration, with the construction of some local government roads and selected roads in some major towns in Osun state.
And in 2012 and 2013, two major road projects were flagged off. They are : the 17km Oba Adesoji Aderemi east bypass dual carriageway awarded at a cost of N14.5 billion and the 30 km Gbongan-Akoda dual carriageway, with a trumpet interchange awarded at N29.2 billion.
The two projects had initial 18 months completion period but that is not to be.
The permanent secretary, Osun state ministry of works and transport and one of the site engineers shed more light on the level of work on the road projects.
The East bypass is to complete the ring road in Osogbo while the Gbongan-Akoda road dualisation is to complete the Gbongan-Osogbo road project initiated by the Olagunsoye Oyinlola administration.
