The Federal Government has distributed relief materials to victims of the recent Fulani herdsmen attack on Kodomum village in Demsa Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal who led the delegation to the state, said government would not relent in protecting the lives and properties of the citizens.
The SGF was represented by Mr. Ibrahim Bapetel, Senior Special Assistant, Policy/Strategy to President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said the presidency was deeply touched by the plight of victims of the attack.
He had with him the Senator representing the zone, Mohammed Yidi and their first port of call was the palace of the traditional ruler of Bata kingdom, Homun Gladstone Teneke.
The paramount ruler thanked the delegation for the visit but raised a fresh alarm that Fulani herdsmen have sent letters to two villages in his domain, promising to attack them. He appealed to government to tighten security in the area.
Honourable Lumsambani Dili, member representing Demsa constituency in the Adamawa state House of Assembly said it remains a no-go area, as the Fulani herdsmen were still hiding in the bush, preparing to launch fresh attacks.
The delegation also visited primary schools where the victims are being sheltered. While there, they delivered President Muhammadu Buhari’s message.
Victims of the attack who spoke through their representatives said leaders’ seeming carefree attitude was responsible for the massacre by the Fulani herdsmen.
They appealed to the Federal Government to provide enough security, so that they can return to their ancestral homes to continue with their farming activities.
