Ogun state Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has commended the federal government for its urgent intervention on the arrest of the suspected militants terrorizing the residents of Elepete, Igbo Olomu, Ebute Ibafo in the state.
Amosun made this known during his on the spot assessment to the affected areas, accompanied by the security chiefs.
TVC News Ogun state correspondent, Kazeem Olowe, reports that for months, residents of riverine communities along the boundary of Lagos and Ogun state have been having sleepless nights due to activities of suspected militants who also engaged in bunkering.
But after series of appeals from the governments of Ogun, Lagos and residents of the affected areas, the federal government through the office of the chief of defence staff sent a joint military task force to clear the area.
Now, the area is cleared, but they left their jerricans and canoes behind.
The Governor also condemned the high level of economic sabotage being carried out by the men of the underworld and urged security agents to intensify their crackdown until the whole area is devoid of criminals.
He also suggested that the whole area be cleared, at least minimum of 500 meters to the riverbanks.
