Airforce to convert 2013 air beatle into drone

The Nigerian Airforce Technology school that developed the first indigenous Unmanned Aerial Vehicle in 2013 is working on converting the air Beatle into a drone.

This is part of an initiative to develop local technology, which will be used to secure the country.

The institution in 2013 developed the first indigenous Unmanned Aerial Surveillance vehicle named Gulma.

The drone is undergoing modification so it can bear weapons and the Airforce authorities hope that it will someday be deployed for combat.

Asides this, the Airforce institution is working on converting decommissioned air Beatles to drones.

This is part of the Nigerian Air force’s drive to explore indigenous possibilities in meeting some of its needs.

For the Minister of Science and Technology Ogbonnaya Onu, developing indigenous technology is the way to go,  in the face of a dwindling economy.

The institute is the R&D arm of the Airforce established to bring the force up to speed with innovations in technology in its field of operations.
