National Under-23 team coach Samson Siasia has sensationally left CSKA Moscow forward Ahmed Musa out his 35-man provisional list for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games men’s football event.
The Russia-based player had been touted to make the list as one of the overage players allowed for the tournament. But Siasia did not include the former Kano Pillars star, who is keen on joining Premier League champions Leicester City during the summer window.
However, former Nigeria striker Siasia listed Musa’s Super Eagles’ teammates Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi, Watford scoring sensation Odion Ighalo, Godfrey Oboabona and South Africa-based goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi, who are over 23 years, for camping in the United States, where he will pick his final 18-man squad for Rio 2016. FIFA allows each country to select three overage players for the Olympics. The Rio Games run from August 5 to 22.
