TVC E. Human rights activist, SAN and Lagos based Lawyer, Femi Falana, says restructuring of Nigeria should be decided by Nigerians.

Speaking at a public lecture in Lagos yesterday, June 12, 2016 organized by the Lagos State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ, to mark the 23rd anniversary of the annulment of June 12, he argued that for a country to move forward, there has to be a restructuring.

He described the attempt at restructuring the country since returning to democracy as “rickety” also warning that charlatans must never be allowed to decide the restructuring of the country.

Falana called for more devolution of power to the states from the Federal Government, he said; “We have been having series of restructuring in Nigeria since 1999 and all we have been having are rickety democracy.

“Restructuring of Nigeria should be decided by Nigerians and not by charlatans. And there cannot be restructuring without democratization and the Federal Government from Abuja should shelve power to the states for even development to take place.”
