TVC E. Ali Modu Sheriff, the embattled sacked chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied rumours that his house was raided by operatives of the EFCC Thursday 9th june, 2016.
Speaking to Daily Post, Inuwa Bwala, sheriff’s spokesman, said the rumours were the handiwork of some mischief makers who did not want to give up fighting Sheriff.
“This is the handiwork of some political elements who have been fighting Sheriff, by again attempting to plant stories in the newspapers like they did before over and over, but it is nothing to worry about, they have again failed.
They cannot continue to fool the people who know the truth about Sheriff by now, especially the people of Borno state. “Like I said, some politicians are only trying to ridicule themselves by attempting to plant such stories against him again and again but they will continue to fail.
If they could not achieve anything in the past, I don’t think they can achieve anything now,” Bwala said he had no knowledge of any raid in any of Sheriff’s houses in Abuja or Maiduguri.
According to him, the last time the EFCC invited the sacked chairman, he honored the invitation and they found nothing incriminating against him. He said they were confident they would prove the mischief makers wrong as they would keep pursuing the path of justice and truth.
The opposition party has been embroiled in crisis over the chairmanship position. The deputy national chairman, Uche Secondus who was in charge of the party, handed over the reins of leadership to Sheriff.
But, many were against Sheriff being chairman and asked for him to resign. The party on May 21, during its national convention, sacked him as chairman and inaugurated a caretaker committee led by Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee.
