Keshi denies Orlando Pirates job

Former Nigeria  coach Stephen Keshi insists he has no agreement in place with  South African side Orlando Pirates, rubbishing reports by some sections of the Nigerian media  that  he is on the verge of replacing under-fire   Sea Robbers  manager Eric Tinkler.

Keshi, who was sent packing by the Nigeria Football Federation after he failed to win a ticket to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea,  was  said to have been chosen for the  Buccaneer job ahead of Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt.

But the former Super Eagles captain, 54,  distanced himself from the reports linking him with  Prates on Thursday, saying  he had  no contact with the 1995 CAF Champions League winners.

“No, I have no idea on that. There has been no contact with me,”  the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner told  South African media outlet Soccer Laduma on Thursday.

However,  the former Anderlecht defender, who represented Nigeria at the USA’94 World  Cup, has  refused to rule out managing a club in the South African league.

“Yes I hope to coach there,” he was quoted as saying.
