Grammy Award-winning singer, India Arie, will storm Nigeria this June, for Mike Aremu’s Sax Appeal; a classy show anchored on the elevated jazz music genre.
Aremu, the renowned Nigerian saxophonist, said the concert which is scheduled to hold at the popular Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, will also feature performances by Timi Dakolo, Praiz, among others.
“This is an exciting moment for me in that we continue to fulfill our promise of bringing quality music to Nigeria,” said Aremu who is optimistic that India Arie’s presence will add verve to the show.
Arie’s musical records are quite striking, one of which was in 2002 when she received seven nominations at the Grammys and didn’t win in any of the categories, having lost to an equally talented artiste, Alicia Keys. But Arie came back stronger the following year by winning two Grammy awards in the Best Album, and Best Urban/Alternative performance categories.
Born India Arie Simpson on October 3, 1975, she is an American singer-songwriter, actress, musician and record producer. Arie released her debut album Acoustic Soul on March 27, 2001. The album was met with positive reviews and commercial success, debuting at number ten on the U.S. Billboard 200, and number three on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
