The Federal Government is considering scaling down military operations in the offensive against Niger Delta militants for about two weeks.
Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu says the move is to allow for dialogue with the militants and other aggrieved groups in the region.
But he also calls on the militants to shelve violence, sheathe their weapon and embrace dialogue with government.
Meanwhile, of the Niger Delta Avengers have been appealed to to retrace their steps from attacking the nation’s oil installations.
Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC in Lagos, Henry Ajomale and party chieftain in Kebbi State, Alhaji Aminu Suleiman made the appeal during an exclusive interview with TVC News in Lagos.
Suleiman said the people of Niger Delta should appreciate President Buhari’s move to clean up Ogoni land.
Ajomale insists that attacking the nation’s common wealth by the avengers sect is not in the interest of the nation.
The party chieftains added that the group should seek constitutional ways in making their demands known to the Federal Government.
