TVC E. The 23-year-old singer broke down in tears as she dedicated and performed “Nobody” in honor of the late singer on Saturday, June the 11th , 2016.
Following the death of Christina Grimmie who was shot and killed by an obsessed fan, Selena Gomez paid tribute to her, getting emotional on stage.
Gomez had reportedly taken Grimmie’s death very personally as she had been signed by her stepdad at the age of 14 for the management of her singing career.
She said: “When she was 14, we met her and my parents and I signed her,” Gomez told the “Revival” tour crowd. (Gomez’s stepfather, Brian Teefey, was Grimmie’s manager).
“One thing about Christina and her family is that she holds her faith so closely to her. And I think it’s not about a religion and it’s not about anything or good deeds. It’s just that she had faith,” Gomez continued, letting the tears flow.
Before the concert, Gomez tweeted her sadness for the loss with a photo of the two, writing: “My heart is absolutely broken. I miss you Christina.”
“The Voice” ex contestant was gunned down by a fan identified as Kevin James Loibl, on Friday, June the 10th, 2016, after her Orlando concert.
Gomez had been Grimmie’s mentor, hence her very emotional reaction while giving the tribute.
