A pastor in Akure, Ondo State capital has been arrested after he was caught with fried meat suspected to be human flesh.
The accused, identified as Adeniyi Johnson, was arrested on Wednesday evening at Ijomu area of Akure.
Johnson reportedly brought out pieces of fried meat, put them in a tray and urged people around to join him in eating the meant.
He was about to be lynched by people, suspected his actions but was saved by security agents, who whisked him to the palace of the Akure monarch for interrogation.
The suspect, who claimed to be a pastor of a Pentecostal church, was alleged to have been sacked after the church found out of his unbalanced mental state.
In his words, he said, “I am a pastor of the Living Faith Church, I am not a bad person. I did this because my child is sick. I did not force anybody to eat the meat.
‘I have an instruction from God to prepare the meat for people, and nobody has eaten from it. If anybody refuses to eat of the meat, I have been instructed not to fight anybody about it,’ he said.
He has since been remanded in police custody pending the report of his mental state of health.
