Ondo APC delegates kick against zoning of party’s ticket

Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election in Ondo State, delegates from elevenlocal government areas of the state have kicked against zoning.

The delegates who converged on Ondo town under the auspices of Sunshine Crusaders, said zoning the APC governorship ticket will do the party more harm than good.

TVC’s Ayodeji Moradeyo reports that the meeting, attended by more than one thousand and three delegates from eleven council areas across the three senatorial districts of Ondo state, was convened by a leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Bola Ilori.

The delegates gathered to deliberate on how to ensure that the party becomes more formidable ahead of the November 26 governorship poll in the state.

In a communiqué issued and read at the end of the meeting by Ilori, the group urged the leadership of APC to provide a level playing field for all aspirants, irrespective of their senatorial district.

The delegates resolved to vote in accordance with the dictate and direction agreed upon by their leader.

The group proceeded to  pass a vote of confidence on the party executive committee as presently constituted across the state.

Ilori who spoke on the reason behind invitation of the delegates to the meeting, added that the  party must get it right by doing the needful.

Three Governorship aspirants on the platform of APC had last week, urged the leadership of the party to use the present delegates across the state for the conduct of the forthcoming party primary for the governorship election.
