The Benue State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has lodged a complaint at the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, over alleged killings and destruction of property in the state by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
The delegation, led by its Chairman in Benue State, Augustine Akpen Leva, expressed dismay at what it says is failure by the government to curb the incessant attacks in various parts of the state.
CAN is demanding for adequate compensation from Federal and State governments for the victims who it says have been traumatized by the attacks.
The commission said it would carry out impartial investigations into the matter and ensure that justice prevailed.
The body called on the Federal and State governments to ensure that the affected families were properly settled and also to curb the incessant clashes between farmers and herdsmen.
