A bill seeking to amend the Electoral Act to make provision to cover the lacuna in the event of death of a Governorship candidate anytime before the conclusion of an election has scaled second reading.
The legislators say the proposed amendment is to avert a repeat of the crisis rocking Kogi state in the aftermath of Abubakar Audu’s death in November, 2015.
Three other bills including the one aiming to legalise the use of card readers in election were also consolidated.
