The crisis rocking the Ogun State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has assumed a new dimension as nine members of the party’s executive have suspended the chairman, Bayo Dayo, and secretary, Semiu Sodipo indefinitely.
They unanimously elected Ibukunolu Ojosipe and Muritala Adegoke as interim chairman and secretary respectively.
The nine officers accused Bayo Dayo and Semiu Sodipo of financial misappropriation, indiscriminate imposition of candidates and exclusion of party officials from the ongoing Party’s congresses.
Speaking on behalf of the nine officers at a press conference in Abeokuta, the PDP Organising Secretary, Folasade Filani, said the suspension was in accordance with section 21 (5) of the party’s constitution.
Speaking earlier, the embattled secretary, Semiu Sodipo said the nine members have left the party and they have no authority to intervene in their activities urging them to follow due process if they want to return.
Th embattled Chairman, Bayo Dayo who reacted on phone said the action of the nine officers was illegal and in clear breach of the party’s constitution.
