Here are a few of your favourite Nigerian musicians who got their start in the pews of the choir before hitting the jackpot in the entertainment industry.
Omawumi had been known to be a playful, energetic, intelligent and an extremely talented child while growing up. She was a lead vocalist in the children’s choir of Foursquare Gospel Church in Warri at the age of 8.
Wande Coal began singing in the teenage choir at his church. He became a dancer for the then Mo’Hits and then moved over to singing.
Kedike Crooner, Chidinma Ekile was a chorister at the Foursquare Gospel Church prior to winning Project Fame West Africa in 2010.
Waje who grew up in Benin City, Edo State. She started singing when she was a young girl. Waje attended Word of Faith Group of Schools, and was a choir member. Once she sang gospel tunes to the delight of the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa of Church of God misson Int. who was so impressed by her singing that he decided to help her throughout her whole secondary school days.
