TVC E. There was blood spill on the road to Wembley Stadium yesterday as fans of Manchester United and Everton clashed at a motorway service station.
The brutal brawl erupted between Everton and Manchester United fans travelling to their FA Cup Semi-Final at Wembley. Videos posted online show at least three young men throwing punches in front of shocked onlookers.
It was reported that buses marked as travelling to London are in the background. The fight appeared to have been caused by a Manchester fan and an Everton fan who posted footage of the brawl captioned it “Manc b******s”
The violence took place at Cannock services in Staffordshire at around (12noon) 11am UK time.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police confirmed they were called to a disturbance at the services but when officers arrived the incident had ended. No arrests were made.
They added that officers had been patrolling the services for “reassurance” during the arrival of 57 supporter buses through the day.
“I saw all the chanting and made my way over for a bit of what I thought to be light-hearted banter.
“Before I realised what was going on it had escalated rather quickly and punches were being thrown
“An Everton fan stepped in to try and break up the melee only to be set upon by three United fans who quickly punched him to the ground before stamping on him.
“Another Everton fan shouted ”Stop there’s kids here” and that was greeted with one United fan shouting ‘F*** off you Scouse c***’ before hurling a glass bottle in his direction narrowly missing him and the child.
“Someone shouted ‘Police’ and everyone involved seemed to disperse rather quickly and blend into the crowd,” a witness told reporters.
As the footage begins, a man in a blue t-shirt has a man in a grey t-shirt around the throat.
They begin to exchange blows before a third man in a black t-shirt wades in and lands a huge punch on the man in blue.
He is left flat out on the floor as the video ends.
In a second video, the victim looks to be unconscious with both his arms lying outstretched as others rush over to help.
The trouble continues with another man in a long-sleeved grey top throwing punches at the man in the black t-shirt.
They disappear behind a coach as others throw bottles.
A witness said: “the Everton lad ended up in a bad way. I didn’t see the fight but I saw him struggling to get to his feet afterwards”
Another added: “At the services…..kick offs at Cannock….blood spilt!!!!”
The FA Cup semi-final between Everton and Manchester United kicked off at 5.15pm.
