TVC E. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State has accused the state government of stopping its chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff from visiting the state.
The Jigawa PDP also accused Governor Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar of conniving with the police to keep Sheriff out of the state, according to Daily Trust.
The Acting Deputy Chairman of the PDP in the state, Aminu Jahun, told reporters that the police denied them permission to host Sheriff because the All Progressives Congress (APC) also applied for a permit to conduct a rally on the same day.
The allegation has however been denied by Badaru through his spokesman, Bello Zaki.
“It was a coincidence. Yes, PDP has organised a rally and coincidentally, the APC, too, has organised its own. But the police stopped both of them from conducting the rallies, saying this is not time for politicking,” Zaki said.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the state,Abdul Jinjiri, in confirmation, said that both parties were stopped from holding rallies for security reasons.
