The Police in Ondo State will deploy over six thousand officers to monitor Saturday’s local government elections in the state.
This is just as the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission says it has trained seven thousand ADHOC staff for the council poll.
The state commissioner of police, Hilda Ibifuro-Harrisson has warned troublemakers to steer clear of the election, saying the police would not tolerate an act of lawlessness from any political party.
She says the police will deal decisively with any person or group of persons trying to disrupt the elections.
The Chairman of the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission(ODIEC), Olugbenga Ige expressed the readiness of the commission to conduct a peaceful council polls.
Already, the major opposition party in the state, the All progressives Congress(APC) and two other parties have backed out of the election.
This is the first council election to be conducted since Governor Olusegun Mimiko took over the mantle of leadership in the state.
