Legislative aides of Senators and members of House of Representatives are set for a showdown with the Clerk of the National Assembly, Salisu Maikasuwa over his refusal to allow them elect their leaders.
In a press briefing in Abuja, members of the National Assembly Legislative Aides Forum faulted the Clerk’s imposition of a caretaker committee chairman arguing it was was against the constitution of the group
They vowed to resist all attempts to impose leadership on them and said they would conduct independent elections to put their leaders in place.
They accused the Clerk of appointing an illegal seven-member caretaker committee led by the younger brother of the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Samuel Melaye
