Nigerian Filmmaker Iquo B Essien’s “New York I Love You” has been added to the lineup of films for screening at the New York African Film Festival.
Starring MaameYaa Boafo of “An African City,” it tells the story of a struggling actress based in New York and her quest to leave her boyfriend to chase her dreams.
The film was recently screened at the New Voices in Black Cinema.
The 23rd edition of the New York African Film Festival hopes to reflect on the ways African men and women have broken through borders with films and stories that form part of the global imagination.
