Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives has warned that incessant clashes between farmers and herders if not curtailed, may lead to the country breaking up
Yakubu Dogara has therefore urged the government to take more proactive actions to end the clashes already spreading across the country.
Bloody clashes between farmers and herders Have become a recurring decimal in many parts of the country.
The Speaker fears it is spreading fast and could consume the country if not checked
Nigeria’s Agriculture Minister, Audu Ogbeh agrees that the increase in clashes is a cause for worry.
But he disagrees with critics of government’s bid to import grass for replanting in designated grazing fields as a way of tackling the persistent confrontations.
To buttress his conviction on the expected success of government’s initiative, Ogbeh says twelve out of the 36 states in the country have confirmed readiness to partner with the government on the grazing grounds and irrigation.
