Fayose’s action against FG, Buhari, seditious – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has decried the governor Ayodele Fayose’s letter opposing the $2 billion loan request by the Federal Government.

The party, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, described Fayose’s action as a “seditious conduct that must not be allowed to go unchallenged”.

It regretted that while the governor got himself busy spending state fund on frivolities, workers’ salaries remained unpaid for four months.

Olatunbosun called on security agencies to check Fayose’s treasonable and seditious activities.

The APC spokesman said: “Even though he has the right to entertain himself being a jester as he has always been, this should not be taken to the extent of constituting a security risk to the Federal Government.

“Other PDP governors, notably Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade, are always in Aso Rock to build a relationship with the Federal Government for the development of their states, Fayose has made himself a lone enemy, a self-appointed opposition leader to discredit Buhari’s development initiatives.”

Olatunbosun wondered why a governor who is borrowing money for capital projects with the backing and approval of the Federal Government opposed the same Federal Government.

“All countries borrow to finance their development goals, the US, UK, Japan, Germany and China are no exceptions.

“With the position of China as the second biggest economy in the world, no country can ignore that Asian giant, and so it is in the interest of Nigeria to work with China for development and technological issues that go with adequate funding.

“Unfortunately, Fayose sees nothing good in this initiative that has the potential to grow our economy for the benefit of all Nigerians but prefers pursuing motives to amass wealth through misapplication of the state’s funds.”

A group, Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation, AGF, has called on the Federal Government to keep Governor Ayo Fayose under security watch as a measure to safeguard the integrity of the nation.

The AGF also said alleged anti-government actions of the governor should be documented to commence treasonable trial against him upon vacation of office.

In a statement yesterday in Ado-Ekiti, the group’s General Secretary, Adeleye Akintola, said the governor has forgotten his oath of office which demands loyalty to the nation without sabotaging its interests or the office of the president.

“The recent outburst and action of the governor is a violation against Nigeria and its people. The governor’s letter is an affront and a sabotage that can only be compared with staging a coup against the country,” Akintola said.
