Tourism has the potential to replace crude oil as the primary source of revenue for Nigeria.
Key players in the tourism industry made this point during the inauguration of the Standard 0rganization of Nigeria’s national committee to mirror the rapid growth of domestic tourism and its future.
It was agreed that for the non-oil sector to contribute to the GDP of the nation there is need for the sector to be standardized.

The committee was charged to bring up improvement plans in tourism in order for comprehensive economic development to create more jobs and investment opportunities.
