Black November, others screened at The Green Me festival

The much publicised Green Me Global Festival for Sustainability has been successfully hosted in Lagos, at the Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos featuring workshops, congresses, marketplace and film screening, and culminating in an impressive Gala Award Night.

The festival kicked off with a preproduction workshop on Wednesday, March 30 where six film schools participated in the pre-production workshop. Participating schools: Hamazon Academy (Ripple), PEFTI Film Institute (Econemy), Royal Art Academy (Reflection) and Graig-Phillips College of Technology (Wet Trap) were challenged with the production and submission of a short film within forty eight hours. It was made compulsory that the film must thematically reflect the festival topic of the year; “Ocean/ Water”. But only four of the six participating film schools met the deadline.

Film screening commenced immediately after the opening ceremony in two cinema halls. Reflecting this year’s topics Ocean, Life, Water; movies addressing ocean pollution, life’s complications and water sustainability were showcased. While German films which mostly constituted of previous Green Me Award recipients screened in hall 3, Green Me award nominated Nigerian films screened in hall 5.

Among the Films in the Water Category on Saturday as include Jeta Amata’s Black November, Oloibiri by Right Angle Productions, and two documentaries The Lady in the Water and Nowhere to Run by 37TH State and Yar’Adua Foundation respectively.
