76 is a Nigerian war film inspired by events which led to and followed the botched 1976 coup d’etat. Directed by Izy Ojukwu, the film stars Ramsey Nouah, Rita Dominic, Ibinabo Fiberesima and Chidi Mokeme. The release date is yet to be confirmed, but the movie trailer cut is enough to make you keep asking the box office attendants at the cinema when the movie debuts.

“Bukas and Joints”

A TV series exploring the taste of Nigerian food in different towns and cities – yes please. Broadcast media veteran Olisa Adibua is the host of this food documentary called “Bukas and Joints”.

In the weekly series which premiered on March 20, Adibua visits different eateries and roadside joints. In episode two he goes round Lagos looking for the best suya in the metropolitan city.

For those who are yet to watch Stephanie Linus’ movie “Dry”, there is the need to do so. The actress’ self directed film was named Best Overall Movie Africa at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. The movie based on a real life story portrays the lives a teenage girl forced to be a child bride.

The film is presently available on several online platforms including Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Sony PlayStation and VUDU.

“ Hush”

Brace yourselves, Olu Jacobs and Richard Mofe Damijo are set to appear on your TV screens five times a week in a new telenovela titled “Hush”. The TV series also features Thelma Okoduwa, Baj Adebule, Rotimi Adelegan and Meg Otanwa.

Here’s a breakdown of the synopsis: Bem, played by RMD, is one of the top designers based in Lagos State, Nigeria, and Arinola, played by Okoduwa, is one of the state’s fastest rising politicians. Bem proposes marriage to Arinola, and this sets in motion a chain of events propelled by their secrets.

Husbands of Lagos”, if you missed watching season one, now is the time to catch up. It features five men living in Lagos, and the women in their lives, and stars Bobby Obodo, Bolanle Ninalowo, Kenneth Okolie, Uche Odoputa, Head of Pulse Nigeria Rich Tanksley, Mary Remmy Njoku, Susan Peters, Moyo Lawal, Yvonne Jegede and Ovire Peggy. Season two is set to star Toyin Aimakhu and Israeli musician and actress Ronya Man.

Snapped Nigeria” made its debut on March 31 on Snapchat. The movie is Nigeria’s first made with image/video messaging application Snapchat. It was written by Bola Agbaje, directed by Kewa Oni and produced by Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju.

The movie is about corruption and accountability. It follows the a gifted woman Harida and her fiancé David ’s fight to do the right thing.
