Viewers Discretion Advised: Man beheads girl for salary arrears

TVC E. A primary school teacher, Edet Umoren has committed a heartless vengeance after he cut off the hand and head of a girl whose grand-father was owing him two months salary. 

Edet beheaded the 10-year-old grand-daughter of the proprietor of the private school where he was teaching in Esugbo, Itamerin near Ijebu-Ife, Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State for allegedly owing him.

Umoren allegedly armed with a machete, also cut off the right hand of Precious Adedeji after seizing and dragging her into a nearby bush, where he murdered the 10-year-old girl, a day after her 10th birthday.

Report says he is also the treasurer of the school proprietor’s church, and was alleged to have laid ambush to attacked the proprietress who had gone outside the school premises in company of Precious and her friend, Patricia to buy biscuit.

Reports gathered that the proprietress, the victim and her friend were on their way back to the school when Umoren allegedly pounced on them on Thursday morning, seized Precious and dragged her into the nearby bush. Patricia who escaped from the scene was said to have run back to the school premises to inform the proprietor of the attack by “uncle Edet.”

The proprietor of the school, Pastor Joseph Olutoye, said he had pleaded with Umoren to give him till the end of this week to enable him settle the salary arrears owed him.

Pastor Olutoye expressed shock at Umoren’s action, disclosing that the teacher left two short notes at the scene of the crime claiming that he committed the crime because of the failure of the proprietor to pay him his two months salary of N8000.

According to the proprietor, “Edet resumed school this morning (Thursday) like every of our staff and we discovered that he left around 10am not knowing he went to plan this evil”.

The distraught Olutoye said he had planned to sack the teacher on Friday over alleged disobedience, which made him to issue him a query before he committed the crime.

According to him, the teacher, who until the incident was the treasurer of his church had allegedly stolen over N250,000 from the church fund.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi said that the teacher had been arrested for the alleged crime. Adejobi, a deputy superintendent of police said security operatives picked up the suspect at about 5:00am on Friday.

The PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police has directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

He said,” On Thursday at about 2.00pm,one Pastor Joseph Olutoye of Ijebu-Imushin, owner of Favour Nursery and Primary School, Esugbon, reported one Edet Umoren, a teacher in the school for killing Precious Adedeji, aged 10 years with knife in a nearby bush around 11.00a.m.

“The suspect left a written note at the scene of the crime that the proprietor who happens to be the grandfather of the victim is owing him three months salaries and that was why he killed the girl.

“He fled the area, but around 5.00am on Friday, a team of Police and Vigilance men arrested the suspect at Ijebu-Imushin.”

The police spokesman further said that the corpse of the deceased had been deposited at the morgue for autopsy and investigation.
