Man in court for stealing bags of rice

Man in court for stealing bags of rice - TVCTVC E.  Yusuf Adigun 39, who is unemployed was alleged to have stolen 600 bags of rice worth N6 million, and he was on Wednesday charged before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

 

Adigun the accused who lives at Apapa area of Lagos, is facing a three -count charge of conspiracy, stealing and escaping from police custody and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Insp. Rita Momah, told the court that the accused and some others at large committed the offences on Oct. 15, 2015, at Apapa Wharf, Lagos.

 

She alleged that the accused broke into the shop of one Adekunbi Fowosere and stole the 600 bags of rice.

“Adigun was apprehended while the others ran way. He was taken into custody but he escaped with handcuffs and was later rearrested,’’ she said.

The accused was granted bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
