The event, which was strictly by invitation took place at Genesis Deluxe Cinema at Lekki and was witnessed by a gathering of lovers of Falz and his brand of music.
Featuring the sultry and soulful Simi, the track, Soldier is a humorous love song which tells the story of a young officer who falls in love with a girl but meets with stiff resistance from her.
However, just as he embarks on a journey to report to his base, he receives news that she and her clique have been kidnapped. The onus is on himself and his team to rescue the maidens.
As explained by its Director, Clarence Peters, the Soldier video is a love story told from a different point of view. According to him, it is a mixture of fiction and reality meant to both entertain and raise awareness.
Present at the premiere of the video was none other than Femi Falana (SAN), father of Falz. Expressing delight at his son’s progression, the human rights activist says that it was time he threw his full weight behind his son’s career. In an emotional moment, the lawyer shared a hug with his son.
“I just want to say that you have chosen a good path. I have always spoken against the brutalization of our people by the military, so when I see your film, and I see a lot of the normal African soldier. I hope you keep it up. I will consult with your mom so that we can also put in some support,” the senior Falana said.
