TVC E. Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has pledged his administration’s commitment to free the state from incessant building collapse.
The governor who took to his twitter handle to announce the sack of top officers in the state’s building Control Agency said government will deal decisively with anyone frustrating the efforts of the government in ensuring a safe Lagos.
”In line with the Lekki building collapse some government officials have been relieved of their duties. We’ve ordered the immediate sealing of the construction site and cessation of further construction. The responsibility of any government is to ensure safety of lives & property of its citizens and this government is determined not to fail in that duty,” Ambode tweeted.
The Governor continued by saying: ”We have also ensured the coordinated emergency rescue of all injured victims and treatment.

We’ve ordered the owners of the collapsed building to submit themselves to the Police.
I understand that owners of the building are currently helping the Police with their investigations,” he said.
Ambode said, ”I want to assure Lagosians that there’ll no longer be sacred cows. If there is failure of duty, there’ll be sanctions.
I assure Lagosians that we’ll do everything within our powers to check excesses of Developers who flout regulations.
This administration will restore efficiency and confidence in the building control and supervision process.” He concluded.
Meanwhile, governor has announced a 5-man committee to examine the Urban and Regional Planning Law of the State as it affects LASBCA.
A 5 (five) man committee under the Chairmanship of TPL (Dr.) Moses Olubunmi Ajayi has been inaugurated.
Moses Olubunmi Ajayi is a past President of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners & Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria.
