Borno bombing death toll rises 27

TVC E, NEWS – The death toll in Wednesday’s two suicide bombings, which targeted a mosque in a Borno village, has risen to 27, an official of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said yesterday.

According to NEMA Northeast coordinator Mohammed Kanar, the death toll rose from 24 after three other victims died while receiving treatment at a local hospital. Among the dead were the two bombers.

It would be recalled that two suicide bombers perpetrated the attacks at the mosque in Umarari village on the outskirts of Maiduguri, the state capital.

One of the attacks took place inside the local mosque while the second blast occurred a few minutes later, about 50 meters away.

Terror group Boko Haram is suspected to be responsible for the attacks.
