5-year jail term : Ibinabo Fiberesima heads to Supreme Court

TVC E, NOLLYWOOD – Nollywood actress and President, Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN is heading to the Supreme Court.

She wants the apex court to upturn the five-year jail term a high court slammed on her in a 2005 reckless driving case.

The incident led to the death of Suraj Giwa, a medical doctor in the employment of the Lagos state government.

ibinaboHer lawyer Barrister Nnaemeka Amaechina said that a Notice of Appeal has already been filed at the Supreme Court.

The former beauty queen had  approached the appellate court to uphold the earlier option of fine imposed by a lower court.

She lost the appeal as appellate court held that the Magistrate Court lacked the discretion to grant Ibinabo an option of fine.
