Ayodele Dada of the Psychology department set a record by graduating with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 5.00 out of a possible 5.00 , but  the journey unknown to many did not start in one day.

From a tender age, an enviable seed of quality was sown into his life, with a strong appetite for reading anything and everything he came across.

This hunger for greatness grew in him as he proceeded with his education. TVC News visited his secondary school in the heart of Ajegunle, Apapa to find out what his record was.

It was a standing ovation for the young man at the 48th convocation of  the University of Lagos as he grabbed many of the prizes on offer.

Both the Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Jerry Gana and the Vice Chancellor, Prof Bello Rahmon were full of praise to Ayodele Dada for bringing honour to the institution.

Graduating with a first class in a public university is considered a great feat and with a CGPA of 5.00 to many students, was considered impossible.

To get to this stage, it means a student must have accumulated an ‘A’ grade all through from the first to the fourth year in all courses.

Dr Alex Ebogba who was Ayodele’s lecturer,  explained that though making a 5.00 grade is quite tough but Ayodele by his achievement has told every student that it is possible with focus and determination.

For one to perform creditably in academic work it is believed that the student should be emotionally stable, have the basic necessities of life to avoid distraction and be exposed considerably to modern tools
for studying. For Ayodele Dada the reverse is actually the case.

Although the socio-economic condition under which Ayodele was born and grew up still abides with the family, his mother only hopes that the time when her tears get wiped away by the success of her beloved son.
