TVC E, NEWS – The Federal High court sitting in Abuja has admitted a former Minister of Interior, Abba Moro to bail on self recognition
The Federal Government had on Monday arraigned Moro alongside a former Director in the Interior Ministry, Felix Alayebami and former permanent secretary in the ministry, Anastasia Nwaobia on an 11 count charge bothering on complicity in a 676 million Naira Immigration scam.
The trial judge, Justice Anwuli Chikere had at last sitting of the court, ordered that Moro and his co-defendants be remanded at Kuje Prison pending her decision on their application for bail.
There was some mild drama before the court proceedings, as security operatives harrassed journalists in a bid to bar them from covering the event
Ruling on the bail application of the former minister and his co-defendants, Justice Anwuli granted Abba Moro bail on self recognition and granted the two other defendants bail in the sum of 100 million
Naira each and one surety each, in like sum.
The court said the surety to the former Director in the Interior Ministry, Felix Alayebami and former permanent secretary of the ministry, Anastasia Daniel Nwaobia must be a public servant, not below the rank of a director.
The court held that the sureties to the 2nd and 3rd defendants must have a landed property in any part of the country and that the documents of the property must be deposited with the court
The court further held that Abba Moro and his co-defendants must also deposit their International passports with the court, as part of conditions for their bail.
Justice chikere later adjourned till 27th of April for trial.
