COSON calls for implementation of copyright levy scheme

TVC E, MUSIC – The Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), has challenged the Federal Government to implement the copyright levy scheme.

President of the Society,Tony Okoroji explains that the scheme will provide aid not just for the music industry but also for the movie and literary industries.

He denounced the system that has made it impossible for key players in the creative industries to benefit from the copyright levy scheme more than 22 years after the law was enacted.

Okoroji insisted that with the Private Copy Levy in operation, the government may no longer be obliged to dole out money to individuals or associations in the creative sector because they can earn their own money.
