TVC E, NEWS – Tears roll freely on Friday when a commercial bus killed a girl in Kaduna after the driver had an epileptic fit and lost control of the vehicle.
According to eyewitness account, the bus, which was conveying passengers from the popular Sheikh Abubakar Gumi Central Market to Kakuri in Kaduna, was on the Ahmadu Bello way when the incident occurred.
The source said the girl, who died instantly, was believed to be a female street beggar.
The eyewitness said the bus swerved from Jos road side of Ahmadu Bello Way onto Gwandu Road, about 300 metres apart, crushing motorcycles and hitting pedestrians, including the female beggar, whose identity was unknown as at the time of filing this report.
The eyewitness said, “We later learnt that he (driver) had seizure while in motion and as such could not control the vehicle.”
“We were standing by the road side, waiting for bus when we saw the driver battling in the bus for control but he couldn’t.
“We took to our heels for safety when we suddenly discovered that the bus was heading towards our direction.”
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abdullahi Zubairu, said he was not aware of the incident and promised to reach out to the Divisional Police Officer of area the for briefing on the matter.
