TVC E, MUSIC – HKN artiste and drummer B-Red dropped the audio and visual to his new collaboration with Akon, titled ‘Cucumber’ to positive reviews.
B-Red joins the likes of PSquare, Dbanj and Wizkid on the list of Nigerian pop stars who have scored a joint effort with the Konvict Music boss.
B-Red has however, said he wrote ‘Cucumber’ and performed it alone at first.
The ‘Insane Girl’ crooner who is also Davido’s cousin told TVCConnect Meets that he wrote the song in Nigeria, ironically, while eating a cucumber.
“We were in the studio and i was trying to find out which song to drop…i was eating cucumber actually and as the beat played, i started saying cucumber, so it just came to my head and God blessed me with the beautiful melody.”
So when asked how he met Akon and got him to sing a verse on ‘Cucumber,’ he said : We went to Atlanta Georgia to meet Akon and we just went to play Davido’s album for Akon. After we played Davido’s album, Akon was about to leave but i said let me play my new song, it’s about to drop. He heard the song, he said wow, smash it. let me jump on it.”
B-Red also disclosed that he initially wanted to feature Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz on the smash hit.
“When i first recorded it, i left a space there, i actually wanted to put Diamond on it but God blessed me with Akon,” he said.
While reacting to the child custody feud between Davido and popular publisher Dele Momodu, B-Red said “it was not a big issue at first, i think Dele Momodu took it to a different level, but i don’t really want to talk about Davido and Dele Momodu, everything has been resolved.”
There had been a child abduction saga involving Davido and his estranged lover and baby-mama, Sophia Momodu.
The crisis has since been put to bed after the Ovation boss took to his Instagram page to declare that “All is well that ends well” when he shared a photo taken at the residence of Davido’s father.
